Banksy, Inspiration or "Yoink"?

So, this is from long ago in a warehouse not so far away from my current location, but I ran across these images while I was building my site. The (in)famous British guerrilla artist and tagger Banksy had a major show out here in L.A., attended by numerous pop-culture icons. Now I'm not going to rag his work, even though placing it in a gallery was awkward compared to it's somewhat startling presence on the street, but I did notice one particular sculpture he made that I swore I knew from somewhere else... Knew from a really really nerdy place. The Simpsons. Specifically, season 2, episode 7, their first Thanksgiving episode where Bart runs away from home and tries to steal a pie from the Burns mansion which first aired in 1990, while the Bansky show was just a few years ago.

Now, I have no idea what the relationship between Banksy and the Simpsons ideas. Does Banksy kick back with a pint and watch the Simpsons after tagging? Did Banksy rip off the Simpsons? Or maybe he independently came up with the idea for a security camera topped Nike of Samothrace? (Actually it's probably nerdier that I knew the name of the sculpture off the top of my head...) Maybe there is a pre-existing reference for this imagery/sculpture that I can't find. If anyone has any clues, let me know!
