Gundam Mah-Jong FTW. ...and THAT is why everyone I know needs to learn how to play Mah-Jong. XD
*The good captain in the caption is shouting "Riichi!", a Mah-Jong term specific to the Japanese variant. What it means is that the captain is betting 1000 points and "freezing" his current hand in order to wait for a specific tile that will finish his hand. The reason? If he pulls off this crazy stunt, his payout score is doubled.
Chinese:
http://www.xs4all.nl/~korntner/mahjong/nanette/nan_notes.html <-- The best and easiest set of instructions for Chinese Mahjong on the net. =D
http://www.ninedragons.com/mahjong/scoring.html <-- Also features a free downloadable offline Chinese Mahjong game. =D

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=B5SOXHN9 <-- An offline Japanese Mahjong game; sometimes they make some odd rulings, but it's faster than the Chinese offline game linked above.
http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/727.html <-- An anime about Japanese Mahjong. If you watch this, you'll understand why Mahjong is such a unique gambling game. Don't attempt to cheat the way they show in the anime!
Other:
http://www.tilehog.net/index.php <-- Every week, they display a hand you could start out with in a game of Mahjong, and you pick and explain which tile would be best to discard first. Shows the collective opinion of everyone who commented, but don't be suprised if you don't understand what they're saying. If you get particularly confused by the term 'knitting', refer to the British-portion of the last Chinese Mahjong link. Also, I comment here under the screenname 'Kosetsu'. =3
http://www.sloperama.com/mjfaq.html <-- A very informative website that deals with almost all forms of Mahjong. A bit confusing to navigate, but it's helpful. Be sure to check out the 'Mahjong Rosetta Stone' - it's an interesting read.
http://koreanmahjong.ce.ro/ <-- The Korean version of the game. I reference this because I myself am interested, seeing as how I am Korean in heritage, and might have the opportunity to play my relatives.
http://www.hirohurl.net/mahjong/3pmjintro.html <-- Three-player games for Japanese Mahjong; what me and the ASU girls should've done the other night. =P
http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/gbadvance/review/R75075.html <-- I WANT THIS GAME SO FREAKIN' BADLY IT'S HILARIOUS.
Have fun!
Yes, I -do- have an abundance of Japanese Mahjong links. It's fun. XP
