We saw Good Night, and Good Luck yesterday, which was quite good.  But I kept feeling as though the movie were a sad memorial to a bygone age, when the ideas of confronting abuses of power or raising the level of public discourse in the US were still imaginable.  Then again, that is probably what the movie wanted me to feel.

My immediate future? I will be returning to Madison in August, which is where I will be for the coming year. But I am applying in earnest to more grad schools, so after that I will probably be moving away.

I had not heard anything about your academic standing. What's up? (You can e-mail me about it.)

Here that would be... 7 to 9 am Friday morning. Which is do-able since I do not have Chinese class on Fridays. But whether I will get up that soon or not I cannot say. As for requests: You could play lots of J-Pop. I'll bet there aren't many other venues for that in Oshkosh. If it were me I'd do lots of music from the 30s and 40s, and explain everything to death. You know, nerd stuff.
