Fuck prog rock.
Seriously. I appreciate that Rock Band contains a wide variety of genres and forces you out of your comfort zone, but the more I'm exposed to it, the less I like it. It's nothing but speed for the sake of speed. "I can play this pattern at 140BPM for 9 minutes!" Since when is music a marathon? Since when is that an indicator of quality? And there's no interplay. Everybody's just jamming as fast as they can, trying to prove that they have the fastest fingers in the band. It really is a race. It doesn't mesh. There's no groove. No sense of contributing to a whole that's greater than the sum of the parts.
It's a good thing my eMusic subscription for the month just hit, and I can get some Booker T. and the M.G.'s to cleanse the palate.
