I love making textures. I find it alot more fun than making icons. Icons always need a certain level of control and planning and you sometimes need to be quite restrained otherwise the icon looks messy. There's nothing of that when texture making - not the way I do it anyway! You splat things on, erase things, add things, and generally make a very pretty mess. It's like being 3 years old and mucking about with paints!
