Freedom of Speech Needs Editing - Sorry Folks Racism is Okay by George! Part One

I'm moderate in my political positions.
You are too I'm sure. We're all moderate, because the extreme positions are the places for nutters, aren't they?
Okay, so some of you may be happy in your commitment to well placed carefully considered right wing or left wing views.
This is where my moderate notion falls into problems. Politics isn't just left and right. Many people have various positions that don't fall into such neat binary terms. Australia has huge numbers of people who are cynical about the political process of all types.
As a very amateur observer of the comments online and in popular media, I try to see what are well thought out positions and ideas. We're lucky here to have the freedom to express all kinds of opinions that could get us arrested in other countries. The tragic case of Peter Greste in Egypt ( SMH http://www.smh.com.au/world/greste-trial-proceedings-approach-peak-farce-20140423-zqxzi.html ) shows some countries are so troubled by extremism and violence that any reporting is dangerous. Russia has a terrible record of journalists being bashed and/or murdered for reporting political events.
In western countries the access to online sites, forums and blogs encourages people to express anything and everything on their minds.
This flood of information food competes with regular news outlets to make a healthy dynamic environment for a gluttony of sources. High in facts, high in fast farce, lots of low brow humour that might cause artistic glogged articles. The pulse and breathing is sometimes irregular, but hot yogurt will do that to a body of political exercise. Culture goes off if left out too long and other strained analogies.

( I don't even know the laws regarding cutting and pasting the Sydney Morning Herald article above. If it bothers the kind folks at the Herald they can let me know and I can delete the link. As I'm small fry and small beer they could wrap me up in newspaper and throw me to the seagulls but.... unlikely).

I'm not revealing some hot news here. This is all mundane stuff of course. My opinions (what opinions?) are bound to be lost among the many...
I see via twitter a vast smorgasbord of views that my vague notions are hardly worth a jot.
My bib is stained with last weeks sensational scandal of wine. How did Gerard Henderson think he could swallow a barrel of whine and not sound like he was under the weather? He should watch his peas and potatoes because he's corn fused.

What do I know? I don't run some mighty Think Tank with exotic topical fission chips like Gerard Henderson does. The Sydney Institute is part of Australias political power elite with much to say.
For example Professor Gillian Triggs made some interesting points about changes to laws regarding freedom of speech -https://www.humanrights.gov.au/news/speeches/freedom-speech-and-racial-vilification-one-man-s-freedom-ends-where-another-s-starts 26th November 2013. Hate mongering? No. Racist? Hardly.
How this affects our honourable Attorney General George Brandis I'm not sure. I've pondered why Mr Brandis seeks to give equal time to racists and bigots while seeking to find fault with our national broadcaster, the ABC. Is Mr Brandis seeking to push former PM Howards right wing white pride agenda? Condemning what John Howard calls the "black armband view of history" http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/John_Howard is a conservative position.http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/nation/black-armband-history-dumped/story-e6frg6nf-1225834505675 Acknowledging the horrors suffered by the First Australians makes some very defensive. It seems too hard to accept there were terrible events so they want history to return to the simple cliches of 1950s education. British Empire bringing blessings of Civilisations and Church to the world. No mentioning of massacres, rapes, child abuse, or other horrors.
I've retweeted (repeated tweets) about Mr Brandis that would've seen me thrown in jail if this was Russia. The fact that he doesn't even know my name says much in defense of our political system. I could hint at my fame via ministry of frivolity in my own defense of course.
No names, my effort is just a blur of intention to compete and fail among the flood of song from my betters.
(Of course anonymity doesn't exist because we're all traceable)
We are encouraged by accessibility to believe that expressing something online validates it and wraps it in substance. I'm sorry if I've fallen for the idea that the blank vacuum "out there" somehow requires my voice before my brain has nutted out a brilliant expose or platform.
Just a vague murmur in need of editing.
