My son has been singing “Kidz Bop” over the last few weeks. He sings along with it, over and over “eye of the tiger, dancing round the fire…” he wanted to share it with me, sticking an ear bud my way. I said I would listen if he listened to one of my songs. He agreed and I put turned on Oingo Boingo’s “dead man’s party”. He admitted that it was pretty good for ‘dad music’.
Stacey and I were out for a rather rare dinner with another couple, and without the usual kid noise (Zachary were off at the kid table). What did we discuss? Mostly about the types of TV shows that are acceptable for the kids. I wonder if we will ever be able to have discussions that don’t center on the kids.
Another unexplained piece of language: After Zachary managed to dodge homework a few days ago, I felt it was necessary to repeat his afternoon marching orders. “You have to do your homework before you feed the chickens or have a snack”. Instead of just saying “okay”, he said “Okay daddy-o, we’re on the same page”. It isn’t something I usually say… I wonder where he picked that up.
