armor and a movie

I got to spend my evening last night with a wonderful master armorer last night, it was a lot of fun, and I think I'll spend more time there this year, and learning more about armor while I replace some very old pieces on my kit. Yes, I'm fighting again, and I have the bruises to prove it, thought I really can't fight in the cold weather anymore, my lungs just won't take it anymore, or maybe I just don't want to trigger a week of coughing. Some stuff is still there, endurance is okay (and will improve with time), kit is going through a big round of improvements, and I have a guy motivating me right now and that helps.

I saw "Stand up guys" a few nights ago. Very nicely done. Kind of a cross between "Pulp Fiction" and "Grumpy old men" and as it went along, I wondered which of the main characters I most resembled or sympathized with. Still thinking about it a few days later, that's a sign of a good movie.

I took Zachary to see his old babysitter yesterday after school. This was a lady that watched Zachary from about when he was three months old, to 4 years old. She is a tiny Catholic woman who fled Iran with her family in '79 when the Mullahs took over. Zachary is within 4" of her height. She asked him about himself, and Zachary said "Well, I'm still a comedian, and that's a good thing because I can make people pee in their pants!" She loved it.

The spring is coming, and the light changes again. I look forward to the warmer days when I can get things done in the shop more easily, ride my bike, stay out later with my boy and get back in the swimming pool. I'm feeling like this year will be a big one.
