more boy stories...

I have a few things on my mind.

Helping people move is a great way to show your friendship, it is rarely a bowl of cherries, but helping friends when they need it is just something you have to do.

I came across a four foot piece of railroad rail yesterday. Years ago I used to have a bunch of little custom anvils that I made out of small narrow gage track that I found on long abandoned industrial site. I made forms, concave and convex long before I discovered the SCA. This seems to be the hand of fate, I guess I need to do some more metal working and shaping bits with this

A friend of mine died early this week with her daughter (a little younger than my son). We used to chat about their very similar antics. Aside from the obvious tragedy of such a thing, I am experiencing flashes of very disturbing imagery in dreams and during the day. So sad.

Me: Zachary, your school is closed on Monday, how about we go to Santa Cruz or someplace fun?
Zach: Yeah! How about Hawaii? or Disneyland?
Me: uhhh...
Zach: Learn the word dad, F-U-N!

Another Zachary story. For those of you who have kids and a Wii, you probably know about a game called Skylanders. It has a little pedestal that you put little figures on, and the game recognizes them, and adds their likeness and special abilities to the game. Zachary loves that game and has a lot of figures to go with it. Zachary's birthday is coming up shortly, and Grandma sent a 3-pack of these Skylanders through UPS to us. This package was delivered in one of these opaque plastic bags to our house. Zachary figured out by the shape inside the bag that it must have been Skylanders. So he put the unopened package on top of the Skylander pedestal, and by the proximity he was able to access these new creatures. He figured this out early Saturday morning while Stacey and I were still in bed. When he was discovered, he stuck to the 'I didn't open the package' defense. True enough, but then he say that he should be able to level them up because he already knew what they were. Yet another modification to what he isn't allowed to do with presents and packages...
