The two days I got to spend with my brother were not enough. But, alas, I could not squeeze another day out.
The trip by train was nice. Ran a little late on the return trip, but still it beats driving. My first night of vacation was spent in Chicago catching up with old friends and meeting a new one.... well really we had known each other through mutual friends for about year, but we never actually met in the flesh. It was a nice way to start off the trip. Day two I made it to my parents and got settled in. Day three was Brennan's return home. He seemed to handle things all right. Apparently he is up for a Bronze Star. He says this like it is no big deal. He also talked somewhat about what he has dealt with in Afghanistan. When he was deployed in Iraq he was not in charge of anyone. That was easier I think. Now as a sergeant he is the head combat medic of his unit. Now the responsibilities are his (along with the burdens). He has grown up so much. I spend the next day with him and my sisters. It was a great day. And then day five came and I got on the train to return home.
Monday I had another interview. This time with a different store director. That seemed to go pretty well. The questions were more challenging than before (not your standard set), but I think I did pretty well. This morning I was told by my store director that a phone conference with the regional director is next up and should happen sometime next week. Regional Director? I am applying for a basic management job! Why does the regional director need a phone conference?!? Just one more hoop to jump through.
Speaking of hoops... Could someone please let all the managers know that they cannot tell me in that my department is falling behind and I need to fix this by Wednesday and then immediately tell me to not do my job (and thus catch up) but instead do a different department's job. Grrrr...
Oh and the car... Right the car! The new car is a 97 Camry. Carol did all the leg work for it because I was out of town when the old one broke down. She did an amazing job!
Well I guess that is all. I need a more interesting life. The good interesting.
