There’s nothing quite like spending a shit-ton of money all at once that really gets a girl motivated to work harder.

I’m writing out a draft for the first book in what I hope to be a series.  I’m a little past a quarter of the way through writing it-therefore, no title-but I’m affectionately calling it Valhalla Marsden: Super Witch until inspiration (or professionalism) strikes me with something better.  I’m on track for finishing the bulk of it (ie: the first, handwritten copy that needs at least three months of solid editing before it’s fit for human eyes) by the end of July.  With hope and a decent amount of luck, I should have a decent working draft by Thanksgiving.

Since I'm doing most of the writing at work (hey! They don't pay me enough to actually work the whole eight hours they expect me to be there),  I’m also working on a short comic.  I suppose the technical term is doujinshi (the Japanese art/business practice of publishing and selling a fan-made comic of an already popular entertainment, such as a T.V. show or video game).  It’s a Harry Potter comic centering around Draco Malfoy.  The title (and this is decided-no changing it now!) is Harry Potter is Such a Fruit.  You may be able to guess what it’s about. ;)

I have half of it written and three-quarters of that blocked out on paper.  I still have to finish writing and blocking out the rest of it before I’ll feel comfortable finalizing the sketches and loading them up into the computer to finish them (and thereby completing my comic). It’s a hell of a lot easier to fix it when it’s a few measly sketches on a page than when it’s panels deep into a chapter with binding positions set and unmalleable.  My goal for the comic?  Written by the third week in July and blocked by the first week of August.  Can’t really say how long it’ll take to do the final draft-I’ll have to jump that hurdle when I get to it.

If I can stick to the plan and follow through, this should be a very productive summer!  All because I bought a new car. :)
