It's The End Of The World As We Know It

I've finished reading the book. I finished reading it yesterday at some point. I can't believe it's over already, and I can't believe I even used the word 'already' there because I always moan that it feels like forever between the release of one book till the next. This time it will be though: there's no new book to look forward to now. It's kind of sad.

I say that, but I'm happy with the way JK Rowling ended the story. I'm glad she hasn't decided to drag it on and on for as long as people are interested; that happens all too often and in the end those things that are dragged on just become worse and worse along the way. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was a perfect book, and the perfect end to a series that will always be my favourite, no matter what might come along. I don't think it's possible for me to be as in love with a series as I am this one.

I cried through a lot of the book. So much happened that made me just want to curl up in a ball and cry - Hedwig, Mad-Eye, Dobby, Fred, Remus and Tonks, Snape the sign at Godric's Hollow, the statue in the graveyard, the Snitch, the resurrection - but there was so much to counterbalance that. I wanted to scream with joy when Molly Weasely killed Bellatrix; it was like someone had lit a torch inside me. When Kreacher ran in, leading the other House Elves into battle, I felt like I was going to explode with joy; I cried, but not because I was sad. When Harry killed Voldemort, and everyone was cheering. And when Luna distracted them all so Harry could leave with Ron and Hermione. And the Headmasters and Headmistresses standing ovation, except Dumbledore who was too busy crying. There are no words for some of those moments.

Deathly Hallows is my favourite of the series, by far. I meant for this post to be so much longer and so much more... informative of my views on the book? I think my brain may still be a little tired and I really don't know what to say.

I want to write to JK Rowling. I don't know what I'd say to her either but I feel like I need to.
