Go vote!

Nov 08, 2011 08:03

Here in Travis county it's a couple of bond measures and a bunch of Texas constitutional amendments (these are way more common that they ought to be because the Texas constitution basically requires a constitutional amendment for every stupid little thing, like allowing El Paso county to form a parks & recreation department).

If you don't know the issues, Google "League of Women Voters" and the name of your county. They do good research, and they're pretty good about not being biased.

But seriously, go vote. These kinds of elections get a lot lower turnout since there aren't candidates paying for political ads on TV, so each individual vote matters that much more. You know all those things that talk about how our own personal vote doesn't matter all that much? They're talking about national and presidential elections, the ones where millions of people might show up. In a low-turnout election, your vote suddenly becomes very important.

Did I mention you should go vote? Even if you're going to go vote in exactly the opposite way that I did, still vote.
