Well, yes.

But in addition, he get a "my first chemistry" kit from us for Giftmas, and he gave Red a book of kids' science experiments to do at home (the pictures seem heavy on the "craft project" aspect).

I see a volcano in our future, just as soon as it's not stupidly cold outside. Tuesday he was telling me about a water vapor experiment he'd seen somewhere that he wants to do. Yay doing stuff! Yay learning by accident while you make a huge mess!

At the National Gallery of Art I purchased a "Pocket Volcano" for Andrew. ( And I can't help thinking: "Is that a volcano in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?")

Stock up on baking soda and vinegar, this baby's gonna blow!!

And I can take comfort in the fact that volcanoes are on the list of "forbidden items" for the science fair - as is pretty much any display that would make a mess or leave crumbs or mold behind.
