You've not only relocated your escaped pirate plot bunnies, they've had litters in the interim!

Not only back but with a vengeance; this is beyond exquisite and far, far beyond heart-breaking. This is a smile-through-tears piece, rare things.

From the elegiac flavor of the prologue in which you catch all the weariness and accumulated sorrow, loss and helplessness without a single cliched metaphor, through the the hollow despair of their conversation, to the note of hope glimmering to the triumphant courage and gambling spirit now conjoined in a re-infusion of all her--their--old spirit. An endless horizon indeed!

You've achieved Tolkien's eschatous (which I, of course, can't spell!)in snatching the "happy ending" from the tragedy.

There is just the lingering trace of sorrow--my own for the lost and used up Earth--but our two pirates have none; sans payee now extends to sans planète. With the Pearl's spiritual sister now able to converse with Elizabeth as well as Jack thanks to AI, you DO realize this is the intro to a whole universe of stories, right?

Whether you choose to head into science fiction so far afield from the period heart of the movies or not, you have another universe to play in occasionally when the frustration of trying to fit into the givens the movies left us stymies your creative juices...

Between the next installment in her long delayed American Revolution series that Artaxastra gifted specifically to me and this...I'm having a WONDERFUL early birthday!

Needless to mention, this "keeper's" going in print into the binder for future rereading!

There's definitely more fic-stuff in there somwhere, but I just don't have enough time to write lately for me to say definitely whether I'd write more in this vein. Thanks so much for the lovely comment. So glad you enjoyed it, and sorry it took me so long to get back to you...RL has been very busy.
