Just got back. Xrays showed that there was a "possible ankle fracture" but it's old. It had to be when I was in a car accident at age 14 and my ankles were slammed up underneath the seat in a Pinto. At the time, I was told "no fracture. Your ankles can't filter fluid properly because the lymph system was destroyed/damaged. You have Post Traumatic Arthritis." I remember not being able to walk when I got home from the ER. I crawled around with washcloths under my knees to get to the kitchen. I also remember drawing the ABC's forward and backward twice a day, everyday for months. I guess that it's soooo slight that it's been missed all this time.
I'm being referred to an Orthopedist to see if there is anything that can be done. I have to admit, my mind is whirling to wonder if anything CAN be done. I guess lymphodema is worse than a fracture, but I am just surprised that I was able to do cheerleading, volleyball, military service and after all that, it was never detected. It also makes me wonder about the left ankle!!
I'll keep ya posted!!
