"Islanders who look forward each New Year’s Day to participating in the grand old tradition of the New Year’s levee will have to wait until next year to make their rounds. New Year's Eve just eclipsed that actual day, I think, when I was younger- and "networking" sounded silly. I also think we didn't realize that these were open to the public, and more than just local politicians and VIPs gladhanding (although that is there too). Next year, I want to go and check out the people-watching.
