(no subject)
i'm on a course of antibiotics. i woke up this morning feeling human with a low grade cold instead of feeling like someone is stabbing me in the throat while pouring glue into my eyes. yesterday was the first amazing day of the year. i felt well enough to leave the house and take eleanor somewhere fun. okay, it was to a cheesy play warehouse where i had to follow her around a 25 foot high netted climbing frame to go down a huge plastic slide several times, but it was still fun. it felt good to move around and be physical and get some exercise.
then after we got home, we cuddled on the sofa while watching _the cat returns_ and then i made some supper. from scratch. and it felt so amazing! i always forget how great it feels to make ellie healthy wholesome food from scratch that she will actually eat. she's so picky sometimes i feel like it's not worth it to put so much effort into cooking something for her. she could live on raw carrots, crackers, toast and hummus with jam and chocolate for dessert. it's made me a lazy cook.
ellie has been sneaking up into our room in the loft after tim puts her to bed. the stairs are just outside her bedroom, so we don't hear her go up there. we don't usually check on her before we go to bed, because she's always been a good heavy sleeper. the first time it happened was a bit of a shock because i went upstairs around midnight and her door was open and her bed was empty. i found her curled up on my side of the bed surrounded by 3 of her stuffed animals she must have dragged up with her. it's hard to be annoyed because it's so freaking adorable to me, i can't stand it. tim just carries her back down to her room where she stays until the morning.
this morning she came up while i was still in bed and climbed in. we stayed there all curled up and warm under the duvet for an hour, while we chatted and giggled. this is what i want to remember.
it snowed it the night and it's still falling this morning. i'm going to make some banana bread and soup today. tim's going to take ellie sledging during his lunch break.
