lately i have been seeking out photos from the turn of the century and up until the 30s. i really think the first 50 or so year of photography was so on point with its explorations of this new artistic format and i wish that the care and naivete would come back to photography. so many beautiful images were captured.
also im kind of put off or weirded out that most of the photographs that are being taken now will never be seen by a future generation. we wont be able to go to a thrift store or antique shop and riffle through thousands of discarded photos, a pass time i would like to see not disappear.
oh yeah the boxer picture is way better. it was on the library of congress flickr site...something allison v. posted awhile ago.
i just recently discovered the section of downtown books that is hundreds of discarded photographs, or rather, cutouts from magazines or old novels or art books. it's hours of fun for sure.
