So i think next quarter I want to switch out of my class.
Not that I dislike it, by any means. In fact, I love it. I just get impatient and the idea of staying in one class for six months is something I cant handle..and because there are so many amazing classes offered spring quarter.
Here is a list of what classes I may take:
-"Race" in the US; historical and contemporary perspectives
-Voices and Visions for children
-Women's Voices and Images of Women: Studies in literature and cinema
All for different reasons.
1-I want to take "race" because its been something really on my mind lately. Mainly because of Katy and all her discussions on Native Americans. I would really love to learn and form my own viewpoints on the subject of race, especially in the US...it's so much more complicated than anyone probably realizes. It's almost the exact class Ive hoped to see at Evergreen.
2-Voices and Visions because I have always wanted to make children's books, and if I want to be an elementary school teacher, it would be obviously beneficial to take. It would probably help me decide what path I want my life to take.
3-Women's voices also because of the race thing. I have been really thinking a lot lately about feminism, and trying to decide how much I believe in a feminist movement. Also, with this new found non-slut-dom I have had to reflect on women and media, and how women are so...what is the world....exposed..no...exploited on TV and media. Ive been having a hard time developing viewpoint on feminism, because i know little about it.
So, it will be a tough decision when April comes around.
