so i literally stayed in bed today til 3 in the afternoon. i'd taken my laptop upstairs last night before bed and was writing a little bit. anyways, i spent all morning with the laptop in bed listening to paramore on repeat(again) and fiddling around on the internet. i kinda wanted to go to the bookstore for the happies, but i didn't want to get out of bed.
but then sandra says she's going to her mom's and she's gonna stop at sonic and i can come if i want. so i'm like, okay, i want an ocean water and i want to go to the bookstore.
so we did.
i got a book i'd seen on a previous trip.
very interesting looking book.
and sandra found this little guy on the bargain table
really nice book, has good quality pix of each bird. and it's about hand sized, so fits easily in a cargo pocket or bag and is easy to handle out and about(which is ya know, when you would need a FIELD guide).
then her mom(who came with) wanted ice cream, so we went and got baskin robbins. chocolate almond is tasty.
then off to home depot to get a light bulb for my salt lamp. and we poked around the garden center. i really do like plants. decided on some things, then realized maybe nighttime isn't the best time to buy new plants. so we will be heading back tomorrow during the day to get a tomato plant for sandra and probably boxwood basil for me. i did NOT like the smell of the sweet basil. at all. i had boxwood basil before, it smelled nice. BUT, we did pick up a jasmine plant to be kept by the front door. bout 2 feet tall, nice full plant, lots of flowers only $12. was surprised it was so cheap. if you guys really want, i can take pix of it tomorrow.
OH! sandra was going through the magazines and found this cool australian felting magazine.
MADE OUT OF FELT
and for those interested in what the caption says:
"In an effort to raise conservation awareness and bring back a unique example of a Tasmanian species believed to be hunted to extinction, Rebecca Kissling and David Hurst have started creating Tasmanian Tigers. This is Harris(Tassie Tiger #1) and he currently resides at Mole Creek Hotel in Tasmania. You can find out more about the Tigers and wearable art pieces from www.rebeccas.com.au."
she didn't get that mag, she ended up getting one on pyrography. which seems to be pretty damn awesome so far as far as teaching a newbie. REALLY helpful mag. plus, some really awesome, amazing photos of people's work. goes through all the steps from choosing a wood to preserving your project, troubleshooting problems...really handy little mag.
oh, and my sciatica has been paralyzing today. i can't bend over, basically anything below my knees is out of the question. it hurts just sitting, standing...breathing. it's awful. i have a tiger balm patch on it, took some ibuprofen and even have a heat pack on it. barely helped. i'm gonna try stretching it out as much as i can, but who knows.
