Happy and Hurt
Firstly.. yesterday's new of JDF broke my heart a lot. OG Power Rangers was my first introduction to Internet fandoms and Kim/Tommy was my first introduction to fandom heartbreak (it wouldn't be until Silk Stalkings for me to learn to blame the writers, of course).
I'm just... numb.
Also still reeling from the loss of Kevin Conroy - who I've not experienced as Batman save an appearance on Batwoman and that BRILLIANT short film Tim Daly's son made. But just because he wasn't ~my~ Batman, he was still the ULTIMATE Batman, y'know?
And then there's a shitstorm that is the real world news cycle and the safe spaces just aren't that safe anymore... People are decent and good; and people are horrible and disappointing.
DEEP BREATH.
Okay, I started with the hurt so that I end on the happy. Gotta trick that brain.
+ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is EVERYTHING I needed to get through losing Chadwick Boseman and T'Challa. The Marvel open broke me. HARD. Million pieces. Every time I steeled myself in the theater, something else made the tears come again.
THAT MOVIE IS BEAUTIFUL.
+ Drishyam 2 was a RIDE. I didn't think they could fit more twists into a sequel, but those suckers just kept coming. WOOF.
I had to deal with a family that didn't buy enough seats for their row, and asked me to move. Since the seats next to me were empty (albeit sold when I bought mine) I moved over. Then two of the seats arrived after the movie started. A long while later --WHY did you bother showing up if you're gonna miss the first 40 minutes???-- the other two showed up and caused a ruckus because the seats were wrong, so I offered to move to a different row.
Of course, being the only non-Indian in the room, I stuck out enough already. But whatever. I was in my assigned seat when the movie started, so it's all on the dude who asked me to move. [shrug]
THE MOVIE WAS AMAZING. And I got to see the Pathaan trailer on the big screen and this theater does not dink around with the volume, so it was loud AF. ♥
+ Still haven't seen Disenchanted -- bought food to make dinner for Friday night, but ended up not getting home until almost 7; and moods to watch a movie were not to be found between me or bizarra. Will have to make the food tonight, regardless.
And in two bits of middling-news:
+ Dad went to the ER Friday night for what turned out to be a massive kidney infection and the largest kidney stone they'd ever seen. He had to transfer to the hospital in Tallahassee to get a stint in, and is there until the infection is gone ; kidney stones, he has to pass on his own.
The Lifeguard finally has gone up, this morning, after blowing my parents off for almost a year. And forgot to pack his ipad and laptop. I'm supposed to be going up for Thanksgiving on Wednesday night, but I don't know how much will be getting done around the house since the ringleader of the To Do-list will be on heavy medication...
Part of me wants to just say 'let him rest' and stay home so I can avoid cleaning my room; playing Dreamlight Valley; and not sitting around staring at each other until someone decides to start a politics argument.
It's not like I won't be going up next month, anyway.
+ You'd think it's the Second Coming, the way everyone's reacting to the return of Bob Iger.

HE NEVER LEFT.
He left the room, like a trip to the den to watch football on Thanksgiving, but still yelling things back to the group at the table. This is like him having to come back into the kitchen because there's a food fight happening and he has to lay down some law. Mashed potatoes are still all over the wall and the fine china (or, in this case, the yeti) is still broken.
Whatever...
