Poodles or no poodles, even.
The lack of usefulparticipation from me, in ALL of my various fandom corners, makes me feel like I should self-exit. I used to be able to produce SO MUCH. Now... crickets.
And I hate it.
Game stuff
+ Islanders. There's really not a lot to the game. It's like Tetris, sort of.. You just place buildings, etc, and build up an island. You run out of points, the game is over; the island shapes mostly suck, but I keep playing. There's also a non-point mode, but what fun is that??
+ I continue to watch a guy play American Truck Simulator on YouTube. Like.. just mainlining it. He yammers about other games he plays; curses out AI drivers; and has a few 'catch phrases' which are generally annoying after a while.. but it's background noise.
Since I REALLY want to play the game, though, I did buy the base game when it was on sale. Haven't played it yet, but I tried the demo and realized the keyboard wasn't going to cut it. I broke downcommitted and bought a steering wheel controller. It's expected Friday.
+ I finally got the XBox hooked up, Saturday, and after a three-hour install, got Destiny working. Of course, there's no instruction, so I screwed up the screen resolution and kept dying in the first room, to the point I rage quit. Someone on the Felicia Day Discord asked if anyone was playing D2, so I sucked it up and just started D2, which is what my friend asked me to do in the first place.
And, of course, it starts exactly the same way as the XBox version. However, there were constantly popups telling me what button to push and such. I died about 50 times, but I finally got through the "tutorial" and to the city. Found Claudia Black and decided that was a sign I'd played enough for one day. LOL
The controller I have for the computer has the left rocker and arrows flipped, so instead of moving forward, I was constantly saluting. Going to see if I can just set up the keyboard for controls, since I know how to use that for WoW, and hope for the best.
+ Honor Bundle is both amazing and dangerous. They have/had an offer for the entire Star Trek RPG set for $25. The actual cost from the company website is upwards of $300 so I paid $30 and just have to invest (at some point, maybe) in the new Klingon addition.
Of course, I have to learn HowTF to play D&D-style games first. but whatever.
+ Speaking of D&D.. watching The Guild cast play D&D has been one of the few joys of quarantine. Another is a fella named Ben Brainard, but that's for a different bullet point. LOL
Writing stuff
+ The brain keeps trying to replot scenes I've already written. Or, rehashing a scene I haven't yet written, but can't seem to get on paper. This morning was a case of an OC project I started. Actually, most of them have been the various OC projects.
Just being able to put words on screen/paper would be lovely.
+ The RP stuff has just gone.. silent. It sucks. Granted, I have a habit of latching on to characters who don't do a lot of talking.... I have about five characters I want to create journals for.. but they have nothing to say, so why bother?
GRR ARGH CREATIVITY!!
TV stuff
+ ESPN, once again, jacked up my life. Not nearly as much as they hosed Golic, of course. But, seriously.. the better part of 16 years of my morning habit is now over and it's just... TWILIGHT ZONE.
+ Watched The Old Guard premiere weekend. It was fabulous. So fabulous that I ended up buying the full books series via Kindle. The first volume was a freebie, and I misunderstood the website and ended up buying the second; then just decided to buy the whole set because whatever. Haven't looked at it yet.
+ Snowpiercer!TV is So. Much. Better. than Snowpiercer!movie. Sorry, Chris. It just is. That said, having seen the movie before the TV series is, I think, an absolute must. There are books for that, as well, but they're currently out of my price range. They've been wishlisted since before the TV version was a glint, of course...
+ Lord, SHIELD. Who knew Daisy/Daniel was a pairing I'd get behind? I mean.. why would it have even been a thought?! Also not quite ready for the series to be over.. This season has been kind of fantastic, for all the WTFery they've incurred with changing the timeline.
But, sweet Jesus, Enoch. ♥
Music stuff
+ Jimmie Allen. ♥♥♥
That's all.
I feel like there's more.. but crickets. SIGH. All right, I guess I should pretend to work, since I'm at work. BLEH.
Also, I hate that DW doesn't show me the %$&*@($ tags I have to choose from. I don't remember them all.
OH. OH. Universal cancelled Halloween Horror Nights. Yeah. Paired with the loss of Mickey's Not-So-Scary, 2020 is tanked. We won't even go in to all the people who have died.
Except for Rep John Lewis. That was a beautiful funeral service. ♥
EDIT: I do NOT like that DW is setting LJ to crosspost with formatting. I don't play with auto-formatting, DW. You are pushing my button.
