Looked at blogspot, but it took FAR too long to figure out how to edit a post, and if I can't figure it out, these folks'll never get it. -- I don't know how much help I'll be because I find all the tasks much better labeled at blogspot, and still have to resort to random clicking just to see my LiveJournal like the rest of the world does. :p (Oh it's under my username, see I've always clicked on that to get to an account page at other sites. Silly me taking so long looking for a link called "read journal." *eye roll*)

I've never used blogspot with a group (though it is possible), but LiveJournal does make it easy to combine different posts into one community, so that's a pro point. It's learning curve isn't that bad. Never played with InsaneJournal or Dreamwidth.

If all else fails, you could take a poll and see what family members have already signed up for. If the majority already have accounts in LiveJournal, that could be the deciding factor.

Now if only the cubicle would stop spinning.

They have nothing but email (and one has a Facebook).

I made a few test posts, with photos, etc., but couldn't, for the LIFE of me, find the link to edit the post.

And, at least with LJ, I could respond to a post with an image in the comment, which I couldn't figure out how to do on blogspot/blogger

Maybe I'll log in again and give it another look with a computer that I don't want to take a sledgehammer to..

Okay, it also depends on where you are looking at. In the dashboard pages, "edit post" is labeled right next to the title of the post. If you're looking at the blog page and you're logged in, they add a graphic link of a pencil at the bottom of the post to take you back to the entry box for it.

It's been so long I can't remember why they decided an image was better than a word there. The screwdriver and wrench graphic takes you to the layout section and the envelope is to email the post.

Comments: blogspot only allows moderation. You can delete them, but you can't change what you typed.

LJ is the same way with the comments, but when I tried to comment with an image, it failed. And replying with the URL didn't come up as a link, either

No, doesn't allow images. never has. But links have worked in the past. You do have to put in the coding; blogspot doesn't do that automatically.

I tried it with the coding AND without.. nothing worked..

They'll need to have the option to reply with a photo, so that pretty much takes care of that one. My thanks for your knowledge. ;)

Hmm, maybe blogspot changed things on new accounts. Mine is seven years old. Anywhos, glad to be of service.
