Anime, anime, anime!
I've watched an awful lot of anime lately! Last Sunday a friend and I watched the entire first (and only) season of Cute High Earth Defense Club Love! (Binan Kōkō Chikyū Bōei-bu LOVE! | 美男高校地球防衛部Love!)
It was delightful! A parody that can walk the fine line between mockery and affection is always nice, and one that can actually pull off a significant plot twist is even better.
Today we watched five episodes of Fushigi Yuugi, which was a total blast from the past -- the theme music gave me flashbacks to college and my earliest days in fandom!
All of this is making me crave Anime Blues Con in July more than usual...
Except that I just found out that Spokane won the WorldCon bid for this year, and Vonda McIntyre is one of the guests of honor! ::dies:: On top of that, there's a good chance that some of the CJ Cherryh fan forums will be there and will have a mini-meetup at the con.
Now I desperately want to go to WorldCon, so I'm torn. It'd cost a LOT more than ABC (plus, y'know, flights add a lot of travel time, so I might have to use more PTO to escape work) but perhaps I could find somebody to split costs with, the way I did at the last WorldCon I attended...?
