$30 too much? How about this... li0neyes June 26 2006, 22:25:20 UTC
Erin's right - Fair WI needs our help. Cash is best right now. But if you don't have it - don't worry, they'll continue to need your future cash as well. So, if you come into some extra dough - put them at the top of your list. Not likely to happen? Don't forget that we need to raise the level of public awareness and positive debate. What's that mean? That means:
1. Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper and then post the link online for the world to see.
2. Send an email to everyone in your address book telling them that they need to VOTE.
3. VOLUNTEER. The second most vaulable resource in any campaign is TIME. Give lots of it - I plan to. Plus this is truly a donation that gives back. Because of all of the advocacy volunteering I've done, I rarely lack a no-cost or low-cost option for food or shelter in parts of WI. What would a volunteer do right now you ask? Plenty. From painting signs, to calling voters/supporters/donors and stuffing envelopes to just plain vacuuming the office there's always something to do at a campaign office.
4. Spend your money contientiously! Don't fund businesses, churches, or other organizations that support the ban or organizations like the Family Research Center. We can't force them to publicly oppose it, but we can at least make it very difficult for them to publicly support it.
5. Be creative. Some of the best opposition comes from creative dissent. Think like Ghandi, King, CODEPink, or the Raging Grannies.
6. Vote against the ban. Sure it requires a certain ability to delay gratification but it really is the most powerful thing we can do to oppose the ban.
