Knight Rider - AKA: that two hour Ford commercial

Feb 18, 2008 17:26

meh.

I'm too young to remember the original Night Rider series, but for the occasional reruns on USA or TNT or some other forgetable cable channel. What I know of "the hoff" is only from Baywatch, viral video and America's Got (no) Talent. (Seriously, how many English teachers cried at that title?) So when I heard NBC had filmed a Knight Rider made-for-TV movie, I thought "Hey, how bad can it be?"

Oh my. It started out with gratuitous bikini shots with absolutely no relavance to the rest of the show. None. I probably should have turned it off then but I still held out hope for something better. At least that was followed by a murder and a car chase. However, after they spent 75% of the movie just riding around in the damn car, I was ready for it to end. While watching I was amused, but looking back I feel dirty and used for having laughed exactly where they wanted me to laugh. The shame of it all.

I hope they don't make this into a series. It will only help to inflate the ego of a self-agrandizing 80's throwback. See ya, hoff. I'd say it's been nice, but then I'd be lying.
