Scorecard today: 1143 new words, making 47,727 words in total.
Last night I got up in the middle of the night to write down the idea that will sharpen that movement between chapters that yesterday I said might be a little gloppy. Don't you love middle of the night ideas?
Today I flushed out that idea, which worked as well as I'd hoped, and then edited the next chapter. It turned out to be the shortest chapter in the book, possibly problematically short. The original Big Action Scene was much longer, but I've tightened it up a lot. Now I'm skipping back to capture some earlier stuff and build toward one of the two big revelations. I'm feeling a little mechanical now, so I'm stopping.
Thinking of making myself a big gold star or something to post here for my 1,000 word days. It's stupid, but would probably motivate the big stupid ego dog.
21 days before going back to work. Will it be enough?
