Research for Gilbert Perez has me tearing my hair out. I am about to toss in the towel and admit that I don't have a hope of understanding how the Aztecs saw the world, and that I'm about to commit massive cultural appropriation and race fail. So I am taking a break and instead assembling a list of books that would be better with zombies in them. For instance, You know that bit in Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man? Where Stephen sees the woman standing by the sea with her skirt tucked up, and he can see her legs and the downy lace of her long bloomers? And he decides not to join the Jesuits? That bit? Would be better with zombies.
Or The Sun Also Rises. That bridge doesn't seem so all-fired important when the river is clogged with the swarming, mindless dead, now does it?
Of course the ultimate book that would be better with zombies in it is What To Expect When You're Expecting.
