Perfect day...

Have you ever had one of those perfect days where everything seemed to be golden? One of those days that you just felt absolutely alive? Nothing bad could touch you. You were above all invincible. That's the day I had today.

I've been feeling kind of down here lately. Winter always does that to me. The dark comes too early and is banished too late. It's always raining or snowing. The wind seems to bite just a little too much even through the heavy clothes you wear to keep it at bay. But today was different.

I woke up earlier than I have been the past week or so. Just a tad before nine. My son was in the living room watching some movie that I loved but was probably inappropriate for him. I don't mind that, just so long as I'm the one there to explain to him what he doesn't understand. I looked outside and the day was sunny. And warm. Springtime warm.

So I ate breakfast and took a shower and we went for a walk uptown. It was great! He's lived in this town most of his life, and so have I. It was wonderful telling him about some of the buildings that stand along main street. I felt as brilliant as Einstein having the right answers to his questions as he looked up at me and asked how the town got it's name. I showed him the stones on some of the buildings that told the date they were built. The oldest we found today was built in 1805...just two years after Ohio became a state. I pointed out the old stairwells that still grace the outside of several buildings. I pointed out the stained glass window that is a beautiful accessory to another building across from the bank. Some of those things can't be found in such good condition anywhere else, but here in Ada, we pass these things everyday without really questioning them. Because they've always been there. But through the eyes of a child, they are wonderous.

It was a truly golden day.
