Thoughts on the Bat Solicits
Batgirl #2: The more I see Babs as Batgirl the more pissed off I get. She looks like a little girl on this cover! This isn't the confident woman that sneered down at thugs from a wheelchair. I know the content will likely be different in the book but if covers are made to get people excited for comic books then this doesn't help a fan of Oracle/Steph/Cass get interested.
Batwoman #2: As usual the art looks amazing. I haven't really gotten into Kates' story since 52, one issue I picked up and some scans online. Not sure if I want to get this out of trade but this has the potential of being the second bat book I pick up.
Batman and Robin #2: WTF is up with the batmobile? I knew Bruce would have trouble with Damian but I thought it would take a little longer than this. I know "Batman and Robin" is sort of the whole point of having Robin but I rather have Damian go with Dick. Bruce is horrible with troubled kids, even with his cheerful ones he has problems being a good father figure. Look how long it's even taken for him to spend one on one time with his son by blood.
Nightwing #2: I'm interested but not enough to buy. I always liked Dick going back to his circus roots and the idea that there are deeper connections between his two lives in intriguing.
Red Hood and the Outlaws #2: I've been waiting for JLI for about a year but I think this is the title that's exciting me the most at the moment. I love the idea of exploring Jasons' past al la Lost Days, apparently he had a teacher or two that he didn't kill. There was bound to be someone. This is the first time we really get a good look at the core trio and see their outfits better. Their seriously putting Kory in THAT? I thought there was some rule that all the women had to have pants or something. Yeah Kory makes more sense than Harley Quinn but how is that even staying on her? I think Roys' hat changed it's logo and is he wearing a vest? Love the pose though, and it looks like their all going for kill shots (though Kory already took hers.) I don't like the "face" on the helmet on the last cover but I love Jasons' outfit in this one. While the bat on his chest raises questions it suits him. And the image of him with that sword is incredible.
