I'm not entirely sure what to think of the news for the new Justice League International series or any of the other news.
I'm thrilled that Giffin and DeMatteis aren't writing because I haven't been fond of their take of these characters since their first JLI run. I keep giving them a shot and I've been disappointed with the results. I don't want the book to be nothing but gags. With Judd Winick, yes I had some misgivings about him doing this series as a ongoing even though I liked most of JLGL except for the Ice bit. I still feel he should have at least gotten a shot or co-wrote. He earned it. I was surprised that Dan Jurgens was writing but I'm not sure how to feel about it. At least Booster wouldn't be regressed like I feared.
But what is the concept of the team if a lot of the people on the cover aren't used to working with the core JLI members? How can Booster lead? With someone else (Batman?) covering? I get the impression the new people won't be getting along with them which would work for the team of misfit superheroes that were in JLGL. I do worry what this means for Boosters' solo title. If it's being cancelled then why didn't they do so before Flashpoint? It seems unlikely that Jurgens will draw for Green Arrow, write for JLI and still be able to draw/write for BG. If it's still ongoing does this mean there's a new writer?
So far I'm not that impressed with what DC is doing. Sure there are titles I'm interested in like the new Red Hood/Roy Harper/Starfire title but I'm royally ticked about Batgirl. Why the hell do we have a redheaded Batgirl i.e. Barbara? They aren't forcing Dick back to the Robin role so why are they making her reclaim a role that hasn't been hers for years? She's evolved beyond it and this further screws Cass and Steph over, something that didn't seem possible! And if you want to relate this back to Booster then how the hell does his relationship work with Bruce/Dick if she doesn't get shot? How would they know? If she does then why the hell is she taking the role from Steph?
