A lot of us have long debated the treatment of characters like Spike, Angel and Faith vs. that of Willow and the other Scoobies when they did wrong. But what about the semi-new-Scooby-in-training Andrew Wells?
the sad thing is i think it is because Joss likes Andrew. Those who Joss like get away with things. I do not like Andrew. Didn't like him in BTVS and any goodwill i had for him in the beginning of Damage (it was nice to see someone who was happy to see Spike.) diminished by the end of the ep and was completely gone in TGIQ. I never thought that he felt any remorse for his actions, especially what he did in season six. I know that he cries in Storyteller but i always thought that was because Buffy threatened to kill him. Lets be honest he should be in jail. Perhaps it is because they do not see him as a threat at least not to Buffy like they perceive Faith to be. He reminds me a little of early Xander actually with the fandom references and the jokes all the time. I could put it down to the fact that they were desparate for people after the Council blew up. I sort of hope that it will come to bite them in the ass but i sincerely doubt that it will.

I think Andrew had some demon language skills or something like that but combat wise he had nothing. I may not have liked how quickly Kennedy was given authority over the other potentials, training wise at least, nor understood just why Buffy revealed everything to Wood as quickly as she did. They at least has some fighting capabilities.
For some reason i think the Scoobies didn't think about Wesley maturing and gaining experience. I think they saw him as the Wesley of BTVS season three. Which IMHO is still better then Andrew. I agree about Giles Pride being a factor in not asking Angel and co to join them. I also think he probably thought that he was protecting Buffy from Angel.

I remember Andrew being able to summon demons just not control them, it doesn't seem like that great a talent unless you're a bad guy. He has no understanding of how Buffys' world works outside of his flights of fantasy much less, like you said, combat skills. Kennedy and Wood also knew things, both had the training.
I got that impression too but then again Willow and Giles both kept in contact with Wes and Cordy. Giles should have figured out that Angel wouldn't have kept Wes if he wasn't useful. I don't think Giles trust either Buffy or Willow in making choices regarding Angel. He refused to even tell Willow about Fred, he never gave her the choice.
I haven't forgiven Giles either, nor Buffy (for a lot of things.)
It's a sad thing when you hope that the characters you used to love are all dead just to make the story have some sense. Though I'm not sure if that sentance did. Make sense that is.

You know i have a really hard time forgiving Giles for that. even if he did have his reasons, or thought that he did.
This is totally crack but maybe Andrew has killed off everyone and replaced them with robots.
