Well, it's been a long time since I've updated the old journal!
So, hello world, again!
A bit has happened since my last entry. I have finally landed some real work for one. I am also trying to finally save some money for travelling over summer... have big dreams about travelling, so let's see what happens to eventuate.
So here's the catch up since the last entry:
Jo came: we saw, we drank, we stumbled! Much fun in December and January, then Jo went back home!! Too much fun was had! Carrying the flame, Sal came over for the rest of January! V. excited about her return in September.
Real job #1: Spent January working on a half hour morning programme for Channel 4, involving waking up at 2.30am and getting picked up (yay!) at 3am and trying not to sleep in the car! Consumed a remarkable amount of criossants and choc chip muffins, and was put up in a hotel before show days. Not so bad!
Real Job #2: Was lucky enough to score interviews and then job with Parkinson about a week after I finished the other one. Excessively happy about this. Love new job!! Have view of London Eye from my desk and unlimited coffee. What more could a girl want??
Number of people seen picking their nose on train: Estimated around 254. Stop it, people!!
Arguments recently drawn into: 1. Spent about 45 mins arguing with this massive loser last Friday night. Marketing Director at Meryn's work who decided to tell me, out of nowhere that Australians are conceited. I asked politely why he thought that. He said I was living proof, with no other reason but the way I look. Fair to say I ripped into him. Since he couldn't establish why my 'look' was conceited, nor any impirical evidence of other australians to back his theory, I told him in no uncertain terms he was rubbish. I was previously minding my own business and he gave me a crap Friday night. Loser!
Times in last week wearing inappropriate footwear: 2. Once at work on our show night where I managed to walk around on my killer stilletos for about 7 hours. Finished the evening with four large wines in an hour (staff bar - yeah!) so pain eventually went away. Then again on Saturday (2 days later) when it took me 2 HOURS TO GET HOME from Kings Cross after the trains decided to turn into buses for no apparent reasons... and had to wait at Clapham forever trying to get home. Noice. Ended up cabbing from wimbledon station as could seriously not walk any further.
Books read recently: well a couple, but latest was 'The Time Travellers Wife'. I'll be interested to hear if anyone else has read this. I started out and really liked it. About two thirds of the way in it started to bug me in the manner of Titanic. THen I decided to put it down because I thought it was too depressing. Then decided to finish it and went back to Titanic like feelings. I think overall it was quite good, but it's one of those things like Oscar speeches that are overly sincere, and feels like it's trying massively hard to be really deep and sensitive and alternative with its characters, but just goes over the top??? Perhaps I'm too cynical... if anyone's read it, let me know your thoughts! Before that it was 'The Great Gatsby'. Enjoyed immensely.
Places travelled outside London: none! Really need to change that ASAP!! aarrgghh!
Coffees this week: Doing 2 a day so far. Not so bad. Trying to cut down!!
New purchases: new black shirt from Mango. Really love it. Great green sweater with white stripes from H+M... unfortunately I've seen at least 3 other people wear it at work, so am v reluctant to put it on for the office!
Times made sick from own cooking: Twice, this week, from same batch of risotto. Must stop eating it. Think it's the dried porcini mushrooms I put in it, thanks to Bill Granger's recipe!! I blame him, and Sainsbury's!!
Well that's about all the latest from this end of the world. Really have nothing else to report, sadly!
Hope all is well in your world!!!!
Ciao for now!
