Well, hello world!
It's strange, but I have actually had a fairly busy week at work, meaning little time for frivolity. It's been very hard to cope with, but I feel as though I'm pulling through as best I can.
I decided to do a strange thing the other day, and read through my journal entries thus far. I have to say, if I didn't know me, I'd think I was something of an idiot, who seems to have an obsession with food, shopping, and alcohol. Who knew my life would come down to such few things.
Anyway, at last, I have news on the job front - well news of sorts. I spent a few hours lingering around the sports department at the BBC yesterday, and have now been promised some producing shifts in January, and some consistent work during February and March when they'll be massively busy with the Winter Olympics and the Commonwealth Games. Yeehaaa!!! Finally, some real work! And it will all be freelance, which means that - hopefully - I will have some spending money again!
So in keeping with my previous journal entries, I've been sitting here at work thinking about the food I am going to buy when I start working there (and let's hope I'm not jinxing myself and they are going to give me shifts) - and this is because I've been on the poverty diet pretty much since I arrived. My lunches consist largely of vegemite and ryvita, and dinner is generally soup when I'm not out, as I can buy two for one in Tescos! That is what my life has become!
So I have been dreaming about buying the following items:
-Brie
-Semi dried tomatoes, or whatever else I can find along these lines
-a good stash of wine. Red, please!
-chocolate biscuits
-hot chocolate (by the gallon, preferably!)
-ice cream. Many varieties
-some good quality NZ or Aus steak or lamb! God, need a meat injection!!!!!
I will go absolutely wild at Tescos, and not be able to drag it back to my apartment in a graceful fashion!!
Well I just had my lunch, and I am now dying for something interesting to eat! I have a substantial craving for Oportos. If only it was here!
The time I have not been spending thinking about food today have been devoted to the proposed activities on Friday night. We ere going to have a quiet one this Friday in a bid to save money, and therefore just watch DVD's. Or go to the movies. But now the offers are starting to trickle in! What to do? What to do? It's my flatmate's birthday on Friday, so he's planning on heading down to Wimbledon for happy hour cocktails. Very hard to refuse a cocktail, especially one promising to make your hour happy! And one of our random friends, Dom, has just invited us to some bar in the city. Hmmm... I think we will most definitely end up going! And then Saturday I'm heading to the Cotswolds for the rest of the weekend to hang with Mel and Dave! Yay - so excited! I'm going to the country!!! And it's going to be really cold, and may even snow...what could be better than warming up in a country pub in the Cotswolds! And I am very exciting to be heading out of town. It's almost like a mini-break... without a man. But still, something to be pleased about!
Well I'm going to try to think of ways to entertain myself at work this afternoon...
Any suggestions would be most welcome!
