The first post from Seattle

So much for my frequent updates but with dial up internet and traveling to Seattle I just have not had the time.

I am currently in Seattle, WA. Andrea and I arrived last Wednesday and spent our first couple of days apartment hunting. We looked at ten apartments between Thursday and Friday. On Friday night, we narrowed our choices down to two apartments and then went back for a second viewing on Saturday morning. One of the apartment complexes just felt right and we decided to give that apartment a try.  Today we signed the lease. We are apartment owners…well we will be on May 1.

I also had an interview with a recruiting agency on Friday and that went really well. In a bit of career change I have decided not to go into teaching, history, or politics. Instead, I am going to try a career more geared towards business. The recruiter is a former RA and she knows just what I am qualified to do. She is a lovely lady and I think she will be a huge help. I will be going in for my first interview tomorrow. I am nervous but also excited. My plan is to have a job and move into the apartment by May 15. Andrea will be moving into the apartment at the end of the month.

Andrea and I have our proprieties straight. Step one: find an apartment (check). Step two: get library card (check) Step three…ummm not sure what that is…find a job? That is right, we have library cards and an apartment. We also have cell phones so that we can start step three.

We stopped at the DMV and figured out what we needed to do to change our licenses to Washington licenses and we filled out our change of address forms. We have the voter registration cards but we cannot do that until we have an WA license. All-in-all it has been a pretty productive week.

I find the Seattle area to be beautiful. I love the snow-covered mountains that are off in the distance, the cherry trees are blooming, and the trees are green. While there has been some rain it isn’t enough to talk about. We have had blue skies every single day!
