The Weekend

On Friday the Grey’s girls decided that even though there was no new episode of Grey’s Anatomy we still needed to hang out. Andrea, Jana, Annie, and I were starving and headed to El Torritos for Mexican and margaritas.

We were horrible at the restaurant. Some how we started singing childhood jump rope rhymes (Cinderella, dressed in yellow, went up stairs to kiss a fellow. Made a mistake and kissed a snake…) and it went down hill from there (Miss Suzie had a tug boat, the tug boat had a bell. Miss Suzie went to heaven, the tug boat went to HELLo operator give me number nine…) Now this wouldn’t have been to horrible if our waiter hadn’t spoken English.

Andrea was trying to ask why we hadn’t gotten part of our meal and everyone was trying to figure out how to say “We ordered the steak and chicken fajita but it hasn’t come yet” in Japanese when our waiter looked at us and said “I speak English.” We just looked at each other and said “Oh well” and tried to think of some more rhymes.

After dinner we headed over to Beth and Kevin’s. Jana taught us how to play Skip-bo. It is a really easy and fun card game. We played to games of that and gossiped about the new changes coming to Intertalk. I won’t go into them now but I am really glad that I am not staying next year.

The first order of business was to call home on Saturday. I wanted to talk to everyone before my trip to Thailand. I called home just as Penny was getting done with work so I was able to talk to Dad and her. I also called Ben on his cell phone. He was the high school decorating for the madrigal dinner. It was a fast call but I was able to say “Merry Christmas”. Sarah just graduated from college and I congratulated her on that and talked about what movies she recommended. I hadn’t talked to Christy in ages so I caught up with her too.

After the phone calls, Andrea and I headed down to Shinjuku. I wanted to pick up some books before our trip and Andrea wanted to stop at the foreign food store in Ebisu. I found five books to take to Thailand! (I am a fast reader) Andrea and I also found some purses that are perfect to use as a travel purse.

On Sunday, I bought an new digital camera. It is an Olympus u 795SW. The camera is shock and waterproof. I had no idea that digital cameras were waterproof but according to the salesperson and the website I can take the camera up to 10 meters underwater. I have no idea if I will try that or not. I understand that is waterproof but I am having a hard time wrapping my head around that fact.

The rest of Sunday was spent watching The Muppets Christmas Carol. Andrea and I also ordered pizza from Pizza-La and the delivery guy was dressed in a Santa suit! I am also proud to say that I am now in the Pizza-La computer. This means that I no longer need to say my address when I call. (It isn’t difficult but I still manage to mangle it over the phone.)

family, friends, movies
