Early morning conversations

May 17, 2007 09:44

Rain, rain go away. It started raining sometime last night and it was raining so hard that it woke me up. The sky is slowly lightening but I have a feeling that it will rain for most of the day.

In other news, the school music teacher Tomoko Miamoto Sensei cornered me in the tea room and we had a small conversation about my cooking habits or lack of them in Japanese.

Tomoko (in English) - Erin, every day cooking?

Erin (in Japanese) - No. I am bad at cooking (using the impolite short form by mistake)

The rest of the conversation is in Japanese.

Tomoko - How do you eat?

Erin - Convince stores, restaurants

Tomoko (laughing) - That is not good. Please practice cooking.

Erin - Ok. My friend’s mom, me teaching cooking. (I forgot the particles in this sentence so it didn’t come out well but she understood what I was saying.)

Tomoko - Good, practice please.

I figure that was a good job seeing has how it is 9:00 in the morning and I haven’t woken up yet. I know I have said it before but the teachers at Asahi Junior High School are so friendly. They have no problem talking to me in simple Japanese or broken English and the best part is they don’t mind when I murder Japanese in front of them.

japanese, teachers
