Grey's Anatomy

I have not posted my thoughts on last weeks Grey’s Anatomy episode.

The situation with Izzie and George: This once again confirms my belief that men and women cannot just be friends. Why don’t the writers just put in a huge orgy to make sure that George sleeps with every girl in the show? We had syphilis nurse, Meredith, Callie, and now Izzie…come on!

I for one am pissed (and I do mean that word) that George and Izzie slept together. I liked that they had a good friendship before George got married and I was looking forward to seeing that resolved. Now, I just do not know. Izzie needs someone to be there for her and I do not think it is going to be George because his marriage is going to fall apart because of this…not that it was stable to begin with.

That brings us to George and Callie: Ok, Callie lied to him about being rich and George never defended her in front of his friends, and they did get married in a rush. With all of that going on George now has to hide that he slept with Izzie even though Callie thinks something is going on between them. AHHHH! Cut the couple some slack, sure their marriage probably wouldn’t have worked but seriously…seriously. Could the writers have made it any harder for their marriage to work out?

Jane Doe and Alex: The evil spawn is human and Jane Doe has a nice set of lungs. I enjoy watching the interaction between the two and I think that this is going to be a defining point in Alex’s career. It is amazing that he has finally started to act human around a patient and not just cold. I will say that there is such a thing as DNA testing and that the ‘mother’ should have done that before writing off Jane Doe. Mothers may have that feeling but wouldn’t it be better to be 100% sure and much better for Jane Doe if she knew for certain that they were not her parents.

The Chief and his ‘Wingman’: I may not like McSteamy as a human but I love the character. Trying to get the Chief laid to get his job…I love it. McSteamy knows how to play people and it is a joy to watch him do it. I love that the Chief is aware of what McSteamy is doing and is just going along for the ride. I laugh whenever those two are on screen together.

McDreamy and Meredith: I was so happy that a TV show finally let the main couple just be happy and exist on show without all of the drama. Of course, that couldn’t happen…not even on Grey’s. If Derek breaks up with Meredith over the Chief position I may have to rethink his title at McDreamy. Then again, Meredith had her life changing moment in the ‘afterlife’ and Derek needs to have his. I hope that he wakes up and realizes that Meredith is important to him.

Meredith and Susan:It will be interesting to see what happens between these two. Meredith had never had a ‘mother’ type figure and Susan seems to be doing a lot of this out of guilt. I do not know what will happen. I loved Susan’s rant and Meredith’s reaction to it. Will Susan be the one that Meredith turns to if the relationship with Derek takes a nosedive.
Burke and Christina: I loved the ‘coral flip off’! I loved the interaction between Burke and Christina. I love that Christina is struggling with who she is but is willing to change. Simply I love these two and I loved the interaction between them during the episode. Of course the fact the British Heart Doctor made the interaction that much better with Christina pushing him away and Burke just sitting back and watching. The best moment had to have been when Christina sucked it up and played ‘clueless student’ to make Burke feel better. I was a bit worried at the end when she was looking in the mirror and seeing the person she has become. Is she ok with the change? I sure hope she is!

Izzie: She gets her own section today. How much time has passed since Denny died? We cannot figure it out. I understand that she has been grieving and that she is struggling to figure out what she is going to do now but I AM SICK OF HER. She hates George’s marriage, she sleeps with George, she is now fixated on him, and I am just cringing to see what will happen next. I hope the return of her long lost daughter gives her the kick in the butt that she needs. The bathroom scene with Bailey was well acted and I almost needed a tissue.

My overall thought is that while I am still enjoying Grey’s Anatomy I find that is lacking some of the magic that it once had. I do not know if that is because the writers are struggling, there are too many characters, or just a lack of good story lines. I find myself missing the old Grey’s.
