Getting ready for the visit from the important people

The Chancellor and Vice Chancellor of UWS, my boss Matt, Hiromi, and a teacher at the local college are coming to visit the Junior High today. I am looking forward to the visit but at the same time I am a bit nervous. Maemura Sensei and I taught the same lesson yesterday twice but the students were not too into the lesson and showed us that through their behavior. I just hope that this class enjoys the lesson a little more. I have had Matt and Hiromi watch my lessons at the elementary schools but this will be the first time that they are watching me at the junior high school.

Life in the teacher’s room is a bit interesting because it is test day tomorrow. This means that the students are not allowed to enter the teacher’s room and we have had a couple of students forget this. Normally the teachers who are in the room will look at the student and ask them “Did you read the sign? Can you read kanji?” then the student will remember turn bright red and leave the room. We also have students who remember and read the sign so they will stand outside the door and almost shout “Excuse me for interrupting but can I have (insert item)” or “Excuse me for interrupting but is (insert name) sensei here” so the teachers in the room can hear them above all of the noise.

Yesterday, Iikura Sensei and I recorded the listening section for the first years listening test. After we finished he told me that he was going to have me start visiting the first year’s classes on a regular basis. I am looking forward to attending the first year classes because the students enjoy learning English and Iikura Sensei had a great teaching style.

I am also going to start eating lunch with the students three times a week. I am still trying to figure out a schedule of when I will visit what room. I figure if I make a schedule it will remind me of when I am visiting the classes during lunch and it will also give the homeroom teacher more notice on when I am coming in. I would like to give them more notice instead of notifying them on the day of the visit.
