The Kent Chronicles, Foreword

Hello, and welcome to The Kent Chronicles! Before the story begins, I will provide you with a pictureless foreword.

Ever since she was a young girl, Gabriella Kent lived a life of wealth and luxury. Her family was one of, if not the most powerful family in all of Twinbrook. All of the generations of the Kent family lived in a mansion on the outskirts of the town for over a century. As a result of the family’s wealth and power, their house was somewhat of a public attraction. Visitors would make sure to stop and see the estate, but no one went as far as to knock on the door.
While her grandparents were living there, Gabriella and her parents moved. Her parents decided that it was the perfect time to take Gabriella around the world to learn and explore. So while her grandparents stayed in Twinbrook, running their businesses and looking after the house, Gabriella learned new languages, met all types of people, and saw things most people couldn’t even imagine.
As she grew up, Gabriella attended the best schools and socialized with important people. But, just like everyone else, she wanted some freedom. Her family happily let her hang out with friends from school, go to the park, or grab a slice of pizza as long as she completed her studies and worked hard.
One time, after seeing a concert with her friends at the local theater, she bumped into a boy named Thomas. He and his friends spent the night talking with Gabriella and her friends at the theater. He was an aspiring musician, so he spent a lot of time at the theater, and loved going to the weekly concerts to hear all different types of musical sounds. Soon, Gabriella and Thomas were very good friends. They stayed close throughout the years, and eventually started dating. After three years of dating, Thomas proposed. They had seen one of Gabriella’s favorite musicians perform, and afterward, they had a picnic dinner in the park. Gabriella was so surprised and overjoyed, and she immediately accepted. The next day, they called up his family to tell them that she said yes. Then, they drove to her family’s house. It had taken her grandparents a bit of time to get over the fact that she was dating a musician, but after a while they warmed up to him along with the family. It had been just over a year since both of her grandparents had passed away and she and her parents had moved back into the house, but their previous approval was still important to both Gabriella and Thomas.
Her family was so excited; they hosted the newly engaged couple a lavish engagement party. After much hectic wedding planning, the two were married. It was said to be the greatest and most extravagant Twinbrook had ever seen. People went to Twinbrook from all over the world to attend the wedding. Those in Twinbrook and its neighboring towns, who were not invited, tried to squeeze their ways in, even if just to see the beautiful decorations.
Thomas, who adopted his wife’s last name, moved into the Kent estate along with her and her parents. The two lived a peaceful and happy life together. Thomas made his way in the music business, while Gabriella spent her time helping her parents with the business and visiting local businesses to make sure everything was running smoothly. But, just a little less than five months after the wedding, tragedy struck the Kent family. Gabriella’s parents were killed in a car crash on their way to the airport for a vacation. As an only child, Gabriella immediately inherited the entire business, and all of the properties owned by her family. Twinbrook mourned the loss of her parents, the citizens paid their respects to Gabriella and her husband.
Their loyalty and caring helped Gabriella recover from her loss, but also helped to greaten her fear of not being able to live up to her family name. Thomas stood by her the entire time, comforting her and reassuring her she would be wonderful. He took a break from his busy life as a musician and focused on helping his wife. Gabriella decided to use her parents’ death as a way to raise money. She asked for people to donate to her family’s already massive charity, “The Kent Foundation,” asking for donations she would give to hospitals all over the world to help buy new equipment to help people who survived various accidents and disasters. People graciously donated to the cause, helping raise millions of dollars for her project. In addition to raising money, Gabriella decided to commemorate her family’s legacy by restoring the Kent estate, a project whose many parts included protecting the old wallpaper and wood, and polishing furniture. When the project had finished, she proudly donated a very hefty sum of money to “The Kent Foundation” in honor of her parents.
After a while, Thomas returned to working his way up in the music business, and Gabriella continued running the family businesses and made sure to stay in contact with family friends, allies, and business partners. Both stayed very busy, and as Thomas became more and more popular, he spent more and more time away from the house, practicing his guitar playing, performing, and attending concerts. Gabriella noticed, but was not too fazed as she had lots of work to occupy herself with.
