Ramblings of an Arthurian fangirl

Well, Semester II began this week and today I started my Arthurian Literature course. It's devilishly brilliant! Terribly interesting, and it just started! I'm so glad I took it, not only because it's it's the subject of my thesis, but also, and most of all, because I've always been, I am, and I'm afraid I will always be, an Arthurian Mythology fangirl.
It all started when I was 12, and when my schoolmates mostly read comics (not that I don't read them as well, now that I think about it), I was totally absorbed by Chrétien de Troyes and his Arthurian Romances. It didn't end there. And now when there's something even remotely connected to King Arthur, or Merlin, or Lancelot etc. I can't miss it. T.H. White and Marion Zimmer Bradley are among my favourite paper companions.

So I absolutely had to catch up with the BBC Merlin series, which I still don't know how on earth I didn't watch on tv this autumn. I must have been drunk or something like that to completely forget it. Because it's really awesome! It's been my only source of comfort during the exams: I studied and wrote all day, and at night I relaxed watching a couple of episodes. Ir's really well-done, and I can fully understand ladybracknell 's enthusiasm about it. Not the conventional arthurian story, so it's original. Besides, there's Giles! Even though without glasses or tweed he's a bit strange, and his Uther is so narrow-minded and annoying... He'll be always be Giles to me, :)
Oh, and let's not forget Lancelot: he's quite hot!

Well, I think I've rambled enough for one post. That's all, folks!

ramblings, geek
