LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE, HARRY POTTER TOP DOLLIE NODS
Capote, Deadwood, and The Office also recognized

February 26, 2007 (DAVIS) -- In the wake of the
Oscars, the members of the Davis Academy of Home
and Leisure released their nominations for the
Sixth Annual Dollie Awards, recognizing exceptional
events and activities from 2006, representing
twenty-plus different categories: movies, television,
music, food, games, and the "Dollie Pardon," an award
given to something that the voting members would like
to forgive and forget.

Looking at the mentions for all of the different
categories, the film "Little Miss Sunshine" seems to
be the strongest contender this year, with seven
nominations including a nod for the Dollie Llama, the
Best-in-show award based on the number of votes cast.
It earned nominations for two Best Feature awards, and
four technical awards: Best Performances, Best Direction,
Best Story, and Best Design.

Once again the Academy gave its acclaim to the Harry
Potter series, this year acknowledging the fourth
movie "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." For the
first time this year, another set of films has
overshadowed the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, and in
fact this was the first year that none of Peter
Jackson's films were nominated.

Another film that the D.A.H.L. singled out was
"Capote," with Philip Seymour Hoffman in the lead
role. The academy gave him four nominations, including
the same two Best Feature categories (Best Enjoyable
and Best Artistic) as "Little Miss Sunshine." These
two nominees are very likely to cancel each other out
during the final voting process, so the competition
will be fierce.

The majority of Academy members also offered special
notice to the HBO series "Deadwood," with four
nominations in total. Both that show and the NBC
series "The Office" snagged slots in the running for
the final award, though the latter only received
notice for one category (Best Direcion).

This year of nominations featured a new category
called the "Dollie Double," reportedly for nominees
that received an official nomination but did not win
any awards the previous year, and that were nominated
but not seconded again this year. As Erik Dahl,
chairman of the Dollies, described it: "The Dollie
Double is a second chance for those nominees that the
members of the Academy only experienced in response to
the previous year's awards."

Nominees for the sixth annual Dollie awards, organized
by the Davis Academy of Home and Leisure, were
officially announced Monday, February 26, 2007. The
winners will be revealed on March 11, 2007, after the
ceremony the night of the 10th.
