Gabriel shifted in his seat. He wondered if any of his classmates were as bored as he at that particular moment in time. His professor droned on and on and Gabriel couldn’t wait for the chance to get home and watch his father work on his timepieces as his mother made dinner for the night. Gabriel’s stomach growled at the thought of homemade lasagna. There was only a minor shifting of glances on either side of him, but his classmates’ zombified states kept them relatively uninterested and ignorant of him, or anything else for that matter. Five minutes until the bell.

Sylar sat in the pooling blood of his fresh kill. The power of his victim hung heavily in the air; such sweet odors. It snaked up his arms like some ferrous liquid to a magnet, tickling each and every spot on him, shooting off endorphins and synapses in his brain. The power fit like a glove, ticking in place in his brain as if the other cogs were just waiting for their sister piece to arrive. With his eyes closed, Sylar smiled into the darkness.
