Food. I like food, really I do. It's just difficult sometimes remembering that little detail. Remembering to eat, remembering that kitchens aren't a scary place.
Post Its. Three by three square. Standard yellow. A necessary part of my life. They mark passages in books, denote parts of my work that I need to reanalyze, and even remind me to do the mundane (see above).
Cigarettes. Been smoking since I was fourteen. At my best it was one a day: my worst, three packs a day. I'd smoke them end to end, relishing in the taste. But I guess since I'll be giving them up, at least for Lent, chewing gum it is then.
Books. Most of mine sit locked up in a climate-controlled storage facility. Short ones, long ones, some fiction, others research materials, of of them are full of life, breathing. Ideas are eternal. I love the flow of words upon a page. They give birth to the unknown and stir within the human spirit a sense of longing for that place from which we all come and to which will one day return. "Seduced by Words" will my epitaph read, one day, for truly the book is my first love.
Friend. True friends are few and far between. Should I trust you enough to let you into my life, you may count upon my loyalty and honesty. I tend to hope for the same in return. Give me simply that much and all is likely to be well.
