I finished "Everything Is Illuminated" last night. Beautiful, beautiful book. I think that's the first time I've called a book beautiful and it really deserves it. It's not a life-changer for me, but just the language used in it was amazing. I'm kind of sad I saw the movie first, because I feel like I had warped views of how the characters looked ): I told my mom she should read it but I think she wouldn't like it. The story doesn't have a big interesting plotline, and it jumps around from two different people, it's kind of hard to explain. The whole book is split between the Ukranian translator Alex Perchov's point of view, his letters to the main character Jonathan, and Jonathan's story about this Jewish village (the best damn parts of the book). So, so beautiful and sad.
I want to reread it again but I know I'll just get bored quickly, so I picked up Sorcerer's Stone a few hours ago and WOOOOOSH rush of nostalgia. I was (am) a Harry Potter nerd since it first came out when I was 7 :B. I'll read through the series this month and maybe again before Deathly Hallows comes out. I didn't think I'd be this excited for the last book but I am!! I need to find someone to go to a midnight party with.
We're picking classes for next year this week and I think I will take guitar lessons. If it turns out to be just a bunch of stoner kids I will cryyyy. They're the only ones who make out on top of my locker, it pisses me off >:( Then they get all mad when I say "EXCUUSE MEEE." and get my books. I should steal their pot and give it away to some nice folks that will learn them.
I still need to think of what I'm going to do this summer. I want to CIT at Mitchman but it says on this Camps-R-Us website that I'm too old to take the beginner CIT course and without that I can't go into the second (for kids my age) which sucks. It's also weird because the owner Joe is our neighbor and I cannot remember meeting him, ever. So it's not like I can just show up at his house and say "CIT JOB NOW PLEEZE *U*!" I think he'll be over again soon for this thing all my neighbors are organizing. They are trying to take some land behind a few houses across the street and trying to fit eight houses where only three should be. It will cause a lot of ecological damage and whatnot if they do that so everybody went all Planeteers and are fighting all those people up there in City Hall. (double reference, ka-pow!)
