The Epic Sunset Wedding at Gallaghers Canyon

Jun 30, 2019 09:54

Gallagher’s Canyon is quite the location. It’s a hidden gem in Kelowna, so if you’re reading this, you’re in for a treat. An expansive wedding venue, with panoramic views, hikes, and trails in every direction, we had our choice of locations.

But first, our detail shots. I arrived at the Fairfield in Kelowna at about 11am. I already had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted for the ring shot - little bits of sun were filtering through the trees, so I placed the rings on a fern and got to work.

The dress was equally as breathtaking.

Back at the Fairmont, the girl were getting ready. Makeup, hair, and champagne.

Our bride’s mother helped her with the dress and necklace.

And just like that, we were ready. We trundled to a nearby park to take some photos, as many as we could fit in before the ceremony! The mood was lighthearted, and our bride was a vision. I was absolutely in love with this day already.

At Gallagher’s, guests had arrived and were seated.

There’s a few tell-tale signs, those little things that let me know this is going to be a little emotional. And it was.

Nerd notes - this is one of my favourite shots coming up, precisely because it’s so hard to do. Getting the Bride and Groom in the same frame is always my goal, but it’s not always possible. Fortunately, there’s a lot of space in this venue, so I could get all the angles.

The ceremony was beautiful, heartfelt, and the hand-written vows brought a tear to so many faces.

After family photos, it was time for my favourite part - time with the bridal party. We had fun.

Ruthanne, the event manager, stopped on by with her golf cart, and golf carts for us. A few special touches too.

She showed us all the best places. Old paths, a willow tree, and a lot of wild flowers. I could photographer there all day and still have spots.

Back at Gallaghers, the reception room awaited us. And what a room - floor to ceiling windows, especially positioned so the sunset came right through it. The cupcake-cake caught my eye as well. Wedding inspo!!

Unfortunately, though, this is where I’ll have to leave you. Keep in mind, this isn’t all the photos. This is a whopper of a sampler though, 45 of the photos taken today.
