Selena Gomez/ Kristen Stewart
I own none of it and under no circumstances is any of this real. Honestly it's not even likely the two would ever talk for more than a few minutes.
A fight breaks out between Demi and Selena in a bathroom at some Hollywood party. Kristen Stewart just needs to use the restroom, not listen in on teenage lesbian drama.
AN: This is mostly conversation which I seem to have trouble with so sorry if it is a bit blocky. Also this one flips to mostly Selena's pov whereas the others except for one chapter have been Kristen's. Thanks again to everyone reading this.
It was possible that the most awkward part of their outing was in fact the end. Selena had to be honest though, she expected as much. The outing, as she had taken to lovingly describing it within her mind, had been unexpectedly amazing. Well perhaps amazing was a strong word, but good seemed to fall short. It had been beyond good. For a four hour stretch, Demi and their now broken relationship had only been a distant memory. Not forgotten, she didn’t really think that was possible, just distant.
“So, uh, I should um…” Selena shrugged while playing with the glossy metal handle of the car door.
“Oh, yea. I’ll um… I’ll see you Tuesday then.”
Kristen had a lazy grin on her face, but her green eyes flashed with a nervous energy. As though she were still worried Selena didn’t want to see her. It was cute, how nervous she could be, but it also kind of tugged at something in the younger girl’s chest. Today had been not quite awesome. Today had been much better than good. Today had been decidedly perfect, actually. Kristen really shouldn’t worry about Selena wanting to see her again.
“I’ll have something not lame planned. I hope.”
A soft chuckle erupted from Kristen’s lips and the weird nervousness seemed to disappear, “I can’t wait.”
“Bye,” Selena’s voice lowered and for a second she very seriously contemplated leaning across the divide between them.
Instead she smiled and waved, body tense from the effort to control her movements.
Kristen matched her soft tone and couldn’t help but mirror the wave, “Bye.”
Somehow or another her feet carried her from the car and through her house. She only looked back once which she really hoped didn’t seem weird. Kristen hadn’t pulled out yet so she definitely saw the turn around. Selena, slightly mortified at being caught, had managed a shy smile then proceeded to dart through the door.
Thankfully her mother and Brian were being all married and gross out on the patio so she was able to make it to her room without having to give the run down on how lunch had been. She would eventually, there was no escaping that, but she needed to get a hold of Taylor.
Once safely inside her room, Selena’s hand found her phone and began to dial the familiar number. It took about one ring before her blonde friend’s voice greeted her. Obviously she had been waiting for a response to her texts that Selena had yet to read.
“So I hear you are after my man.”
Selena blinked in confusion at the unexpected words, “What?”
Taylor, unable to keep up her fake angry voice, released a laugh, “Check the internet every once in a while, you old person
Message boards and comments flashed through Selena’s mind as she tried not to cringe, “I’d rather not, thanks”
“Well word around the web is you are cozying up to Kristen Stewart in order to win back Taylor Lautner,” Taylor explained casually, as though they were discussing the weather and not Taylor’s boyfriend. “I had no idea you were so devious Selena Gomez.”
An audible groan escaped Selena’s mouth and despite her best efforts couldn’t tamp down the bitterness in her voice, “Ha Ha.”
“It’s a little funny.”
“For you.”
“Well of course,” Taylor was full on giggling now, ignoring her sort of grumpy friend.
“You’re sweet Taylor.”
“I know. So then I guess I needn’t worry about you trying to reignite the sparks?”
Selena’s eyes narrowed as she fell back on her bed, “Are you reading this right from a web site?”
“… Possibly.”
“No I am not hanging out with Kristen just to get with Taylor Lautner. I am not after your man as you so politely put it.”
“Good. Cause I would hate for it to come between us. People are already speculating how violent our eventual throw down will be.”
The thought was a bit ridiculous. Selena and Taylor fighting over a guy then getting into a physical altercation over said guy would never happen, Selena was completely certain of this.
“I could take you.”
“Have you seen me? I’m like a giant.”
Selena took a second to contemplate the logistics of their imagined fight. Taylor definitely had the height advantage as she so kindly pointed out. The Latina on the other hand was, at least in her opinion, a bit scrappier.
“A scrawny giant. I would definitely win.”
On the other end of the phone, Taylor knew Selena was most likely right, but she wasn’t about to admit that, “Lies.”
Both girls broke into a fit of giggles over their fistfight. Selena found herself yet again thanking God that she had such an amazing person in her life. It worried her a little that Taylor could possibly think that Selena was trying to get back with Taylor Lautner. She would never betray her friend in such a manner.
“Were you seriously worried about this?”
“No, not in the slightest. Besides after I saw the photos of your date…” Taylor trailed off, uncertain how to confront her friend over what really had appeared to be a date.
Selena racked her brain trying to think of when someone could have photographed them, “What?”
“You and Kristen out at a restaurant, giggling and laughing might I add. Ringing any bells here?”
Panic seized her chest at the thought of someone listening in on their conversation. If they had taken a photo without her knowledge then it was very likely they could have overheard them. It could be all over the news. Her career, her life, could very well be destroyed. Taylor would have said something by now though, she was sure of it. She wouldn’t have let her joke around in the beginning if something so life altering had actually occurred.
Drained by the fear now leaving her system, Selena rubbed at her eyes, “It wasn’t a date.”
“It looked like a date.”
Suddenly she remembered how much Kristen liked that place because they left her alone. Selena sighed sadly at the thought of the girl losing that sense of security.
“Kristen’s probably mad. She likes it there because no one bothers her.”
Selena can practically see the wide grin on Taylor’s face.
“So it was a date.”
“It was lunch.”
“A lunch date.”
Despite herself a smile works it’s way on her face at her chipper friends excited tone, “It wasn’t a date.”
“Who paid?”
“Well… she did.”
It had made for a strange moment, when Gregory placed the bill on the table. Both of their hands reached out and brushed one another, causing them to recoil a bit. Kristen had grabbed the black book before Selena could make another go at it and quickly slipped a card within it, arguing that she had dragged Selena there so it was only fair she paid.
“It was a date,” the blondes voice stated definitively.
“Because she picked the place.”
Okay so even Selena conceded that sounded pretty lame. They could have split the bill. It really hadn’t sounded so bad at the time though.
“For your date,” Taylor chimed almost as though it were a song, which knowing her all of this could very well become one.
“Will you knock it off already?”
“So how’d you meet?”
“She gave me a ride home on Saturday.”
“I got that from the photos,” Taylor had been amused when the photos of her friend and the other girl had popped up. Kristen had looked so startled, but the always polished Selena had a polite smile on her face as she weaved through the crowd. “That was the teen thing, right?”
“Yea… she ran into me and Demi in the restroom,” Selena sighed, fingers fiddling with the quilt on her bed.
“Oh,” the complete drop in her friend’s voice made Taylor’s heart hurt. “Are you okay?”
Selena sniffled a little, biting her lip to keep from breaking out into tears, “I don’t know. It’s… it’s not getting easier. I thought by now… I thought maybe it would get easier to see her.”
Taylor wished she were in LA and could hold her friend. She would be soon, within the next few weeks, but it was one of the worst things in the world to have to listen to Selena trying not to cry and knowing she could only give words as opposed to hugs.
“It will. One day it will.”
The confidence in Taylor’s voice was reassuring, but it had been months now and it seemed like nothing would ever change, “I’m tired of waiting. I’m tired of… of not being able to have a single conversation without yelling.”
“I’m sorry.”
Selena swallowed the thing rising in her throat and rubbed her face with her hand, “No, God I just… I’m sorry. I don’t mean to keep bringing it up. You are probably sick to death of hearing about it.”
“That’s what friends are for,” Taylor responded, trying to calculate how long it would take to get to California from her current location. Hearing Selena so upset, then having her freaking apologize for it made Taylor want to do crazy things like hop a plane and ditch a few concerts just to make the girl smile.
Silence fell between them before Taylor decided the best remedy was most likely to try and change the subject, “Friends are also for sharing details concerning dates.”
“Not a date.”
“Whatever. So she offered you a ride?”
Selena began to smile again at the thought of her new friend, “Yes. She was really sweet about it.”
“Huh, never would have pictured her being so… sweet.”
On some level Taylor knew she should be concerned. The other girl wasn’t exactly known for being the best role model, she looked high in almost all of her photos. She should be warning Selena and giving her a big sister talk about being careful, but her younger friend was happy and right now Taylor would do anything to keep her that way.
“Kristen is a lot nicer then people give her credit for. I think she’s just shy.”
“Aw, you like her,” Taylor teased while making kissing noises through the phone.
“She is a very nice person that I enjoy spending time with,” Selena could practically feel the blush rising up on her cheeks at her friend’s taunts.
“So when is the next date?”
“We are meeting up for dinner on Tuesday, which will not be a date either.”
“Where are you going?”
“I… I have to pick.”
“Go somewhere romantic, like the observatory or the beach.”
Selena rolled her eyes and tried yet again to make her friend understand, “It doesn’t need to be romantic because it isn’t a date.”
Taylor carried on oblivious to Selena as she tried to think up the perfect evening, “A candle light dinner perhaps?”
“I get the feeling you aren’t actually listening to me.”
“I’m listening, I’m just choosing to ignore your blatant denial of the truth.”
“Tay-lor,” Selena whined.
“Se-lena,” Taylor mimicked.
“Do you really think it is a date?”
Her friend’s nervous voice forced Taylor to at least attempt to be serious, “It sounds like a date.”
“If it isn’t and I make an idiot of myself…”
“Then I will buy you a pony.”
Selena cringed at the thought of her mother seeing a pony in the backyard and the subsequent refusal of letting her keep said pony, “I don’t want a pony.”
“Then I will fly out to LA carrying a suitcase full of pickles and apologize profusely as we watch all your favorite movies.”
The fact that Taylor already had plans to do so was of no consequence. If the date turned out not to be a date, she would just have to do it a bit sooner, concerts and obligations be damned.
“… Fine,” Selena grumbled. “But I’ll be mad at you for at least a week after.”
Taylor giggled at her friend’s attempt at a threat which both of them knew was incredibly unlikely, “Fair enough.”
“Okay. Now I just need help picking somewhere to go.”
There were definite pluses to being Taylor Swift’s friend. Besides the being showered with love and affection, the older girl was the most romantic person she knew. If anyone could plan a date, it was her.
