A very enjoyable night at the Anderson's; absolutely the most creative I've been this break.
I arrived and found Grant contained within what could only be described as a "fortress of junk." He had been holed up at his piano for the past six hours setting biblical passages to music for his upcoming bible camp. Hipper than you'd think.
I then proceeded to have a two-hour dinner discussion with him and his mother about evolution and creationism (damn the Blind Watchmaker; it's all I think about) Again, more enjoyable than you'd think.
Then what was certainly the climax of the evening-- Modern Interpretive dance with the entire Anderson family. Apparently they've been taking an interpretive dance class at the YMCA and are having a recital on Saturday. Grant, knowing how much I'd love this, asked his German Interpretive dance instructor if his odd friend could join them in the recital. She was overjoyed and I'm in the show. Tonight I was shown "The Forms" I must know in order to perform; essentially patterns of lines and boxes with the instructions to either solo a crazy improv dance or lead the group in crazy improv dance. We will be performing at the Y on 12 mile and Farmington at 3pm this Saturday. I highly recommend this one.
I then helped Grant's sister with some lyrics she had written, which put me into lyrical mode enough for Grant and I to decide the we would usher in what will be known as "The New Jazz Age" in song writing. The idea is to write songs of a style and quality similar to those written by the likes of Cole Porter and the Gershwins and sung by Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald, because you know what? --Fuck Harry Connick Jr.-- That's right. We do it better.
The only problem is our names sound terrible together. Kahn Gale and Anderson? We tried several incarnations.
E. K. Gale and G. Anderson
Eric K. G. and Grant A.
Anderson and E. K. G.
Eric G. and G. Anderson
All atrocious. We finally settled on Lynette and Cole. We'll never be published, so who cares?
