I went to the physiatrist today. He injected both sides of my lumbar spine with cortisone in one visit and I just have to call him next week with a report. The only pain was a couple of pinpricks from the lidocaine injections and two weird pinprick sensations deep along the side of my spine when he injected the cortisone. The worst part was having to lie on my stomach for half an hour.
I felt fine afterward and made a stop at Bed, Bath & Beyond in Columbia, where I picked up a few things we needed, plus another Christmas gift (I've bought a few in the last couple of days). My back didn't hurt afterward, but I credit the lidocaine. The next couple of days will show the real results.
Now maybe I can exercise and lose a bit of weight, which will take some strain off my back, which exacerbates but doesn't cause the problem. I'm supposed to take it easy and work up slowly lest I injure something; no problem!
yule,
back,
